Wyrmbyte let loose a new video for their upcoming third-person, mystic-shooter, Nightmarchers. The game is themed around Polynesian culture and mythology, but combines it with typical third-person shooter gameplay.

The new video only clocks in at a minute and a half but it gives you a really quick glimpse into the more fantastical elements of Wyrmbyte’s upcoming title, which is themed around a Polynesian warrior attempting to free Hawaii from the clutches of villains.

The video centers around Ku, the Hawaiian god of war who is associated with war and politics, or blood and sacrifice.

The video explains how when Ku had the mortal body of a farmer, he sacrificed it to transform into the “Breadfruit” tree to provide food during the time of a famine. Ku has returned to Oahu to provide Kai with his powers.

In the video we see how Ku rises from the ocean, and offers his mana and a special bow. In the text, his task is for players to return to him once the bow has been mastered.

It seems like a mix of Legenda o Zelda zadovoljava Far Cry.

In a previous clip we saw how players could run around attempting to take down the bad guys using a variety of weapons, along with being able to utilize the god’s powers by transforming into animals to either defeat enemies or reach new areas on the map that otherwise would seem unreachable.

We don’t often have adventure games that mix and match that style of gameplay, but it could prove to be fairly interesting having a mythological premise overlaying a traditional third-person shooter experience. However, both elements would have to be done decently, otherwise if the whole mystical element seems too out of place it would end up hurting the shooting mechanics more than helping it.
