Hyakki Castle, japanska horor igra iz prvog lica stiže na Steam 15. studenog

Developer Asakusa Studios and publisher Happinet are prepping for the release of their first-person adventure-horror role-playing game, Dvorac Hyakki. The upcoming title is due for release on November 15th on Steam.

The game dabbles into the deep mysticism of Japanese mythology, but the actual gameplay is centered around the classic four-direction CRPG dungeon-crawling mechanics from titles that came out back in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Unlike classic DRPGs, however, you won’t be stuck facing a single direction during combat. You have the option of splitting off your party members to face the enemy from various directions. This gives you a lot more freedom in how you setup your attacks and string together combos, as showcased in the trailer below that Gematsu objavljeno.

There are some really neat possibilities with Dvorac Hyakki, such as splitting off party members to lure monsters through a trap and then having another party member on the other side of the trap pull the switch and kill the enemy.

It may be listed as a single-player game, but depending on how the controls are setup, it would make for a great local split-screen, dungeon-crawling RPG.

At the start you’ll be able to create your own character. You’ll have the option of choosing from a male or female, along with selecting their race, which includes humans, oni, tengu, and nekomata. You can also choose from one of four different jobs, consisting of samurai, ninja, sohei, or shinkan.

You can also choose from a wide range of different portraits, or you can import your own, just like in the old days of CRPGs.

Each character class also has their own skill tree and abilities.

The story centers around a criminal sorcerer named Doman Kigata who is sent to an island prison at Hyakki castle. However, he kills the guards and turns the castle into his own demonic playground. The Shogun sends four agents to dispatch of Kigata and cleanse the castle. Hence, the objective is to make your way through the castle rooms and slay demon lord Kigata during the Edo period of Japan.

Using the two-party system to navigate the castle could give the game a lot of replayability and strategic diversity.
