Bigben Interactive is gearing up to release the truck-racing simulator, Europsko prvenstvo u kamionskim utrkama, on PS4, Xbox One and Nitnendo Switch starting July 18th. Ahead of the game’s release they rolled out a brand new gameplay trailer featuring the Slovakia track and some of the big-wheelers in action.
Iznenađujuče, Europsko prvenstvo u kamionskim utrkama looks a heck of a lot better than I thought it would. Graphically the trucks look realistic, the environments modeled after their real-life counterparts, and the skybox is especially convincing.

It’s unfortunate that due to the limitations of the home consoles we still don’t have particle-based volumetric smoke effects from the tires and exhaust. Once that becomes standard in racing games it will add a whole new level of immersion to rally racing games, drifting, and burnouts, because the smoke particles will have to disperse around active entities instead of just clipping through them the way the current alpha effects do for creating the illusion of smoke.
Anyway, as far as the actual racing is concerned, the trucks move and appear to handle realistically enough. You see a lot of axle grinding, cab-bopping, and driver movement.

What surprises me most about this game is that there are different types of trucks, different types of race disciplines for the trucks, weather effects, and road conditions to consider, yet oddly enough we haven’t heard much about this game at all, which usually means one of two things: it’s terrible or it’s a sleeper hit.
Based on what I’ve seen of the gameplay, Europsko prvenstvo u kamionskim utrkama doesn’t look terrible at all. The physics look acceptable, the trucks look inviting, the handling looks up to par, and so long as there are enough tracks then I think this game might end up garnering a sizable audience just based on word of mouth alone, which could be why Bigben is taking a backseat when it comes to promoting the game, sort of like with Euro Truck Simulator where SKS Software relies more on community growth and word of mouth rather than throwing tons of dollars at vapidly marketing the game.
