Bloody Zombies, Co-op Brawler izlazi na PC-u, PS4, XB1 12. rujna

Paw Print Games and nDreams announced that their four-player cooperative beat-’em-up game Krvavi zombiji is due to release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR starting September 12th. The game will be available for only $14.99.

The game is a hand-animated, HD brawler where players take on the role of some ruffians attempting to fight through hordes of the undead in a completely overrun London, England.

David Corless, VP of publishing at nDreams, explained that they wanted to mix some of the old with the new, by combining the classic beat-’em-ups of yesteryear with the newer brawlers that offer expanded weapons and customizable skill-sets, saying…

“Bloody Zombies is a classic co-op brawler but with a new twist where VR players and non-VR players can battle the undead together, either online or couch co-op. Think Streets of Rage and Castle Crashers on amphetamines, throw in some friends, add in the unique viewpoint when playing in VR and Bloody Zombies is like no other game out there!”

You can see what the actual gameplay is like with the trailer below.

The flash-style animations aren’t particularly enticing, and the characters don’t quite move with the grace and fluidity found in most other 16 and 32-bit brawlers, but the action is visceral, the gore is prevalent, and the weapons are diverse.

I like the visual style of the game – the modern-punk visuals combined with the grunge-zombie atmosphere helps separate Krvavi zombiji from other beat-’em-up titles, but it is hard to get past the stiff, Flash-style animations. For instance, Majka Rusija uzoraka krvi has a more classical animation style reminiscent of the 16-bit games like Streets of Rage i Krvna osveta.

If you’re willing to look past the Flash-style animations, you’ll find a game with lots of zombies to pulverize, various bosses to defeat, some tactics to master, and VR to utilize.

The VR mechanic in the game is a little weird as it relies mostly on players being able to look into and out of the stages to survey the area. How well that’s going to work out remains to be seen.

Despite the animations being a little rough, it does feature free-form combat and chainable combos. You can look for it to arrive on digital store shelves for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC starting September 12th. Pre-orders are available right now.
