Bluehole Studios has announced that PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has become a mammoth success. Bluz picked up a press announcement from the indie studio that revealed that they’ve now generated more than $100 million in revenue since the game launched into Early Access on March 23rd, 2017.

According to the breakdown, there’s nearly an equal amount of players from the United States and China putting in time with the game, while Germany and Russia tie…

“PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS has attracted players from around the world with 24% of them based in the US, 19% in China, 6% in Germany, 6% in Russia and 4% in the U.K. The game has seen further popularity in Eastern Asia with 5.5% of its players in South Korea and 4.3% in Japan, making for impressive sales as compared to their overall population pool.”

Very interesting breakdown.

The numbers that Bluehole have rounded up are slightly higher than what’s being reported on Parna Spy, where they estimate only 3.7 million players own the game.

Regardless, the numbers are extremely impressive. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has soundly outsold AAA games such as Mass Effect: Andromeda i Horizon: Zero Dawn.

This led Microsoft to come groveling at Bluehole’s feet to get the game up and running on the Xbox One, and at 4K on the Xbox One X.

It’s probably one of the few times where Microsoft has been proactive in trying to secure a game that could actually increase their market share.
