Ahead of the January 24th release Capcom released update 1.01 for Resident Evil 7 on the PS4 with the added option to acquire additional trophies than what will ship with the game. That would be a fine way to stick it to pirates if the game could be pirated on PS4. Otherwise, people who don’t get the day one patch will simply miss out on the additional trophies.

PSU is reporting that the patch enables support for add-ons, new notifications for additional DLC chapters and a fix for a few bugs.

Anyway, the game is set to receive a lot of talk once it hits the market due to taking a drastic change in the way Resident Evil games are played and turning it on its head. The upcoming game is now a first-person survival horror game instead of a typical third-person fixed camera game as if you were viewing it from stationary security cameras, nor is it an over-the-shoulder game like Resident Evil 4 kroz 6.

The first-person perspective also ties into the game’s new virtual reality capabilities. Capcom’s Resident Evil 7 will be the first major AAA title to make full use of the PlayStation VR. So we’ll see how well that turns out.

Prema Ovaj Gen Gaming, the patch is only 806MB, so if you have about a gigabyte free you should be good to go.

The update will also setup the hooks for the upcoming DLC that Capcom has planned for release after Resident Evil 7 is made available for the PS4, PC and Xbox One.
