Recenzija Ancestors Legacy PS4

Naslijeđe predaka was originally released on PC on May 22, 2018. The game was developed by Destructive Creations and published by the 1C Company.  Over a year after its PC launch it is coming to PS4 with a $39.99 price tag. The PS4 version will not include the Saladin’s Conquest DLC built in but, as far as I know, it will be available as paid DLC.

Now then, let’s talk about what Naslijeđe predaka is exactly. This game is a real time strategy game set in medieval Europe. Medieval Egypt and Syria during the Saladin’s Conquest DLC. It features a day/night cycle that affects the way certain civilizations play. Speaking of civilizations, the four in the base game are Vikings, Anglo-Saxon, Germans, and Slavs.

Each civilization has its own strengths and weaknesses. Vikings have strong infantry but lack decent horsemen. The Anglo-Saxon dominate the long range game with great archers but are weak in melee combat. The Germans have heavy mounted horsemen but suffer from a lack of good ranged units. The Slavs have unique horse archers that open up a hit and run style approach falter at trying to steam roll over its foes.

The game is set in a “historically accurate” Europe and allows you to play various historical battles in its single player campaign mode. The first campaign, centered around the Vikings siege of Lindisfarne, serves as a tutorial to the game.

This opening campaign does a good job at slowly introducing the mechanics of the game to those who may be unfamiliar with RTS games. Additionally, it does a decent job of transitioning PC players from a mouse and keyboard set up to using a controller.

There is a multiplayer mode as well, but unfortunately I was unable to get a multiplayer match going due to the lack of people having a review copy and just plain bad luck. This is unfortunate as the multiplayer mode is where you will be spending most of your time with this game after beating the single player campaigns. There really isn’t much in the way or replayability in the campaign mode aside from increasing the difficulty.

Personally, I feel like this is a pretty good console RTS game. The sound effects and music are spot on and truly evoke a sense of medieval European combat. The cinematics are, brutal, bloody, and well drawn. They truly convey how deadly warfare is and how perceptions are changed by whose side you are on. Graphically the game looks good. It is nothing special but the details on the units when you zoom in is nice and they do look like actual fighting units.

Overall it is a fun game that I would recommend to both RTS veterans as well as anyone looking to dip their toes in the RTS waters.
