Resident Evil 7 Cloud verzija za Nintendo Switch izlazi 24. svibnja u Japanu

The Nintendo Switch isn’t getting a proper port of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Capcom wasn’t going to waste time and resources porting over the game to run in the portable mode on the Switch, so the safer bet was to just port over a cloud-enabled version of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard i nazovite ga Resident Evil 7: Biohazard – Cloud Version.

You’ll have to buy passes to play the game after being able to experience the first 15 minutes for free. The passes, according to IGN, will run you close to $20.

The passes will net you 180 days of access to the game, along with the ability to save your game. However, accounts left inactive for too long may be subject to have their saved games summarily wiped off the servers. It’s still Capcom, remember?

Footage of the cloud version was published over on the Biohazard YouTube channel, and gamers were none too pleased with the news.

The trailer starts off well enough, with the song and the stark horror imagery, but by the end of it all, we see that Ubitus will be handling the cloud services. Of course, this means that you will have to connected to the internet at all times if you want to play Resident Evil 7 on the Nintendo Switch, both in TV mode and in portable mode. Also, you can’t just have a connection to the internet, it must be consistently stable, otherwise it won’t work.

The cloud version of the game will come with all previously released DLC expansion packs, so you’ll be able to play through the entirety of the content… assuming you decide to try it out on the Japanese version of the Nintendo eShop. Given that the Nintendo Switch is region free, you can actually easily access the Japanese eShop by going to the official Nintendo Network user profile page and changing your region to “Japan”.

What’s most surprising is that a fully cloud-enabled game is available on the Nintendo Switch, even though it was Microsoft who has been touting the power of the cloud since 2013.
